Nate and Genevieve were one of the last couples we met with before we moved from Pittsburgh to Columbus. Meeting them, we wondered if they would be our last couple there and we felt really grateful we met them just in time. They never hesitated about us moving out of state and were so confident in choosing us. That night we learned how laid back and fun these two were. They were so easy to talk to and we knew we wanted to hang more! We went out for their engagement session last year and had lunch together afterwards. Andrew talked about Nate forever after that. We both kept saying “They are GOOOD people!” That is the best way to describe the two of them. They are genuine, honest, fun and have so many more amazing qualities. We could NOT wait to photograph their wedding.
These two met at Saint Vincent College and chose to have their ceremony there. Both families are Catholic and they had a beautiful, full ceremony. I loved what the priest said. He said, “Today, you can tell that mommy’s little boy and daddy’s little girl are getting married!” You so could. Nate’s family LOVES him and cried so many happy tears throughout the day. Genevieve is a real daddy’s girl and has an amazing bond with her family as well. You could feel the excitement, yet bittersweetness that these two were all grown up and building a life of their own.
Nate bought socks with a former president on each pair of them for all of his groomsmen and himself. He told Andrew that day he was a huge history buff and I think Andrew was convinced this guy was the best ever. When I saw Andrew after he photographed the guys he couldn’t wait to tell me how awesome their socks were!
The reception was held at Chestnut Ridge Conference Center and Resort and it was decorated beautiful for Christmas! This was one of the first weddings we shot with Christmas trees and it added a real elegance.
Wow! Did I cry some tears during the toasts? Genevieve’s dad came up with a packet in his hands, which was his toast and I knew then the waterworks were going to come. He spoke a lot about what it felt like to let go of his baby girl, but the sweetness that he couldn’t have handpicked anyone better for her. He talked about her strength, her quarks, but mostly just how much he adored her. Just when I thought that was enough, then Nate’s brother Cory came up. He is Nate’s older brother and shared about how wise and mature Nate has always been. When an older brother talks about how much he looks up to his younger brother, tears.. just tears! THEN Genevieve’s sister came up with a packet just like her dad! I knew then I was in for it. She shared about the amazing bond these two had as sisters. She shared how Genevieve is loyal, protective, and a great sidekick. Throughout her toast I couldn’t help but cry knowing we have a little sister coming for Emlyn. I looked back at Andrew multiple times and he was feeling the pull on his heart for his baby girls.
