Not just a Photographer…
So if you haven’t picked up on it by now, you know that I am not just a photographer. Me, being Chrissy! In 2010, when I suddenly lost my job, I had a choice to make. Was I going to go back to school?? Or just get a job YET again that pays the bills that I really had no interest in?? It was pretty simple to me. I needed to do something I LOVED! I decided in 2011 to attend the local community college for graphic design and I LOVED it! I loved the experience, but I felt like I needed to learn so much more! Photography caught my attention while in school and the design side of me started to fade. I was enthralled with photography and there was SO MUCH to learn.
Now 3 almost 4 years later, I am really really starting to LOVE design again. I don’t know what it is. I feel like I have set the fears aside I used to have. When I was first designing I beat myself up that I was no good. I had a hard time finding something to inspire me. I was never satisfied. Photography took me on a journey where I had to find my confidence, find who I was, and start processing that through my art. If it weren’t photography I don’t feel I would be where I am at creatively today! It has opened a new world for me.
So, you may wonder what all this design stuff is that pops in your newsfeed. When we relaunched we decided to leave the word DESIGN out of it. We thought it would be more straightforward with our wedding clients. We threw around the idea of creating a separate business name just for design. But really, it is not what I want at this time. We have an Etsy store that all my designs get to hang in and I love that. It is also a great bonus service for all of our clients! We also do most of our couples wedding invitations and that gets discussed in the consult.
Another area of design I have been working MORE in, is building photography and small business websites and branding. Logos are my fave! I use an adobe program to create the sites from scratch. Our site, The Jackson Signature Photography, Great Lengths, are a few I have designed. I hope to learn more and grow this side of things as a service for all the people we mentor. We are in the process of building one for another local photographer now. If you would like to find out more info about custom branding.
Here are some of the things we have been up to on etsy!
For invitations, we also have custom listings on etsy for those people who have a style in mind and just want us to create something up for them! For logo, branding needs, and websites, just send us an email at email@example.com.
We only take design work in fall and winter, so contact us ASAP!
Sharing, serving, and celebration,
Andrew + Chrissy
