Thanksgiving Recap | Personal
A beautiful post to you might be full of a well decorated table scape, amazingly elegant dishes and vibrant food. Mine. Not so much. Our thanksgiving was far from glamorous but it was perfect. As I sit in a home that is not my own with my little family, hungry for nesting and a place of our own, I can’t help but be overwhelmed with what really matters. I would be lying if I said I didn’t want a house of my own with a beautiful dining room, decked to the nines, filled with food and family for the holidays. But my heart rejoices that this year is the first year that our family feels more whole despite all we don’t have.
Every Thanksgiving that we have been married we have traveled in and out in a jiffy and there is no time for anything else. It was nice to see family but sometimes just exhausting. My mom and dad have talked about a group family photo since Emlyn was born, three years now. Every year it felt almost impossible to accomplish. We would try to accommodate Andrew’s side of the family and my own but again, everything was so rushed and quick.
This year we accomplished family photos for my family. That was huge from my moms perspective. My sister has needed updated pictures for three years now too. They have been so patient with us. Andrews mom works retail and the holidays are always hard for her because she has to work. So far this year we got to go over and spend some time with her, twice in just a week or so. Christmas, we get to see both families and not feel rushed as well. This is all so new to us but it is so good. It is something we didn’t necessarily know we were missing. We may not have a home of our own right now, and when we do it will be even better… but one thing we do have is family. So these photos aren’t the most glamorous, there are no Pinterest worthy photos here but to us, this post is perfect.
So here we go.. My sisters family was up first! P.S.. Their dog Trixie was literally smiling she was so happy to be in the pictures! 😀
We got all of the cousins together to have some pictures for Mimi and Pop-pop!
Believe it or not, this was the first time I ever really used the self timer for anything personal. I was happy with the results.
This one has to be my favorite, “Oh shoot there is one more left!!!”
By the time we got to this next photo, Emlyn was crying because she had to potty. At least they are all together! lol!
My brother-in-law got a quick training and took some photos for us! We are always grateful when there are pictures of the THREE of us.
So, as you enter in to the holidays, even if you don’t have everything you think you should.. Find what matters most.
Sharing, serving, and celebrating,
Andrew + Chrissy
