The Family Biz | Vick's Gourmet Pizza
March 29, 2018 , Personal
I have been mentioning all the busy in our “other” season.. not “off” season. I left out a big chunk because I thought it needed its own post. As some off you may remember we moved above my parents old pizza shop a few years ago and during that season we helped my parents with their transition over to a much bigger building. The renovation projects were tiring and it was a joy to be able to come alongside of them and help manage the project. I enjoyed decorating and helping them make decisions. Once the new location opened in August, Andrew and I felt a shift. We knew then that we were there to see this place come alive and it did. The day we opened was a great feeling for our whole family. A family business opened in 1961 just became something even greater. My sister and I look at this place and we see hope and a future. We see Gods hand and we get excited about what is to come for Vick’s.
We get asked all the time if we will own it one day and the truth is when my parents are ready my sister and I with our families will make decisions together. We have an idea what that will look like but my sister and I both have passions for the pizza shop in different areas. We see God using us already to help in that transition when the time comes. For now though, we try to help where we can. The pizza life is a crazy life and to say my parents get tired is an understatement. My parents understand that at this stage in our life Andrew and I’s focus is our family our business and commitments. I give where I can around what we have going on. I mostly have managed anything graphic design related like their website, menus, coupons, interior design, etc. I have helped with some other little things inside here and there and I try to keep a relationship with the employees there. Every Friday I take Emlyn and Adyah there not only to spend time with their grandparents but so they can be a part of it all. There is nothing like eating pizza at your grandparents pizza shop.
Recently I went in to take photos of their food to update their menus! We will be rolling out a new menu here shortly but this was the first step. Here are some of the photos I have taken since the opening and current.
If you are in the area and haven’t tried our little family legacy we would love for you to swing by. 7345 East Main St. Reynoldsburg, OH 43068!
Sharing, serving, and celebrating,
Andrew + Chrissy
