5 WORKFLOW TIPS FOR THE WORK FROM HOME ENTREPRENEUR

1.GET YOURSELF READY

Working for yourself can be amazing and challenging! I don’t know what it is but the days I get my butt in gear, shower, dress nice and get ready…. BUT I accomplish so much more. The best foundation for any start to a workflow is making sure you are showing up the best you can. Self care isn’t just a thing it’s actually critical because you are the engine in your business. Start the day off with you as your priority.

2.CLEAN AND MAKE A CREATIVE SPACE

I have lived in 6 houses since we started out business and some of those being 900 square feet or less. Finding separation from my family and a way to keep things organized has always been a challenge but something I prioritized. It makes things feel more professional and legit to have a workspace.  Not only that it allows you to focus and not use the excuse of the space. It’s important this space is exactly what you need to not feel distracted and inspired. My grandmas vintage camera case sits right beside my desk with a big chunky knitted blanket. Because that’s what I need to feel inspired.

3. STUDIO SYSTEM

It doesn’t matter what business you have.. if you have clients or contact info it’s time for a studio management system! This single handedly gave me my life back our second year in business! It can be hard to learn at first but automating workflows will set you free. Templates and repetitive things you do in your business automated saves you more time than you may realize.

4. TOP THREE

Goals are amazing to have but sometimes as business owners we can have too many and we get overwhelmed. I always start with three priority tasks of the day.. that if I get those done I can feel good about the day and a weight was lifted off. From there I have my backup list I can move to or set aside an hour to do something creative or refreshing as a break.

5. PLAN IT OUT

I am a terrible planner and I run away from structure. But even I have to admit that if I plan things out the better it is. If I know what my days are devoted to I don’t feel defeated when I didn’t accomplish something. I try to generalize my plans and not get super specific to set myself up for failure and I keep tasks smaller or less time to accomplish. I do my biggest scariest tasks first .: you know the ones you dread.
